IAI: Delivering Solutions, Not Just Products

Maxim Zemer, Senior VP Marketing for Asia and Africa

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is a world-leading aerospace and defence company that innovates and delivers state-of-the-art technologies across various domains, including space, air, land, naval, cyber, and homeland security for both defence and commercial markets. “We invest millions of dollars each year in research and development. This investment is focused on addressing the challenges of the modern and future battlefield, driven by our customers’ needs,” said Maxim Zemer, Senior VP Marketing for Asia and Africa. In an interview with Aeromag, he shares insights on IAI’s participation at ADAS 2024, its cutting-edge technologies, and strategic goals for growth in the Southeast Asian market.

How has your experience been at ADAS 2024? What has the response been like?

IAI is not participating in ADAS for the first time; we also participated in 2022. We believe that this exhibition serves the interests of Asian countries, as well as some from Europe and the US. Overall, it has been a very successful event for us.

What new technologies is IAI exploring, particularly in unmanned and intelligent systems?

IAI offers a wide range of capabilities in the unmanned domain, including loitering munitions and shore protection systems, as well as UAVs. We are continuously exploring all unmanned capabilities based on our customers’ requirements. At this exhibition, you can see our loitering munition capabilities showcased outdoors. It’s important to note that IAI has extensive capabilities in this area, all tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers.

Scorpius-T is a multi-threat electronic warfare emulator. Can you talk about its unique features and capabilities?

The Scorpius has unique capabilities. And as much as we know, it is unique in the world. It has EW capabilities that can jam directly to a certain threat. Whereas the other EW products, they jam with a wide band jamming and wide area. That means, that it can jam also your forces. Whereas this unique capability, based on AESA capabilities, is aiming to jam a certain threat. This system can simultaneously jam multiple threats while requiring less power. It comes with a built-in generator and can be easily fitted into a 20-foot container, making it highly mobile on trucks, ships, and even C-130 aircraft.

Can you describe the features and capabilities of Barak MX?

The Barax MX is an advanced air and missile defence system designed to counter a wide range of threats including aircrafts, drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. This system can play a critical role in a country’s layered defence strategy and is recognised for its flexibility and robust capabilities. The Barak MX operates with a network centric architecture providing maximum redundancy and allowing for the integration of multiple sensors and combat management centres.

How does IAI ensure its products meet the changing needs of modern defence and security?

First and foremost, we invest millions of dollars each year in research and development. This investment is focused on addressing the challenges of the modern and future battlefield, driven by our customers’ needs and by our observations of global requirements.

Looking ahead, what are IAI’s goals for the future, particularly in terms of growth and market expansion in Southeast Asia?

We believe that the Southeast Asian market is a growing market. IAI is committed to participating in and contributing to this market.  We are dedicating significant efforts to establish our presence in Asia.

Anything else you wanted to highlight?

IAI is a globally recognized company with a strong reputation, wholly owned by the government of Israel. We offer a diverse range of products designed to meet almost any customer need. Our focus is on providing comprehensive solutions rather than just individual products.
