Thales and AAHL Partner to Improve Airport Operations

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, has partnered with Thales, a global leader in advanced technologies, to enhance airport operations and passenger experiences nationwide. This collaboration seeks to transform AAHL’s international airport operations by introducing a fully integrated solution focused on smart security, biometric passenger journeys, and operational efficiency.

Under this partnership, Thales has already deployed its innovative Fly to Gate solution at seven AAHL-managed airports since early 2024. This system streamlines the travel experience for millions of passengers by providing touchless biometric solutions as part of the DigiYatra initiative. The pre-enrolled passengers can enjoy a seamless journey, eliminating the need to present ID documents and boarding passes at every checkpoint, thus reducing processing times by up to 30%.

As part of the extended collaboration, AAHL has awarded Thales an additional contract to implement the Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) at all its airports. This cloud-based platform will optimize overall airport management while enhancing passenger experience and security. The APOC will centrally host all necessary applications, collecting operational data from various integrated airport subsystems and sensors, all while adhering to privacy standards.

Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director for India at Thales, commented on the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Limited to bring innovative technology solutions to revolutionise airport operations and the passenger experience in India. Our Fly to Gate biometric solution for DigiYatra and the smart Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) will enable AAHL to streamline operations and also ensure a secure and simplified journey for millions of passengers. Together, we are committed to support India in its vision of becoming the largest aviation market in the world by 2047.”

Thales’ advanced technologies position AAHL to efficiently manage complex airport operations while significantly enhancing the travel experience for passengers, aligning with the Indian government’s vision for a digital India. As the collaboration unfolds, the integration of these cutting-edge solutions is set to transform air travel in India.
